Welcome to GynoGirlfriend
Let’s face it: the vagina needs avenging: we have accepted for too long the view point that women’s bodies are something to whisper about, to be ashamed of, to be exploited.
GynoGirlfriend.com is an online community of kindred spirits, joined in celebration of women. Our mission is to empower women to heal and reclaim their sexual selves as a stepping stone to realizing self-love. We’re here to reclaim our sexuality as part of our humanity.
Sex sells. It’s our favorite past time as a species. Admit it: if I told you this was a forum to talk about health care reform or stock market trends or cookie recipes, would you still be here? Our lives don’t fit into neat compartments, nor should they. Most things are fair game for discussion, but sexuality is our springboard.
Your facilitator, GynoGirlfriend MD, is a board-certified Ob/Gyn and a fellow of the American College of Obstetrician Gynecologists. Like your own gyno, GynoGirlfriend MD’s knowledge is derived from years of caring for patients like you. Perhaps unlike your gynecologist, GynoGirlfriend MD brings her own brand of humor to the subject of sex, as well as her personal experience as a seeker of truth, mother, lover, and smoking hot, forty-something female.
GynoGirlfriend will answer your questions in a no-holds-barred, down-to-earth fashion. There are good websites out there for basic information about sexual health. Gynogirlfriend gets to the question behind the question, issues that are impossible to explore in a 15 minute office visit. How do you feel about your body? How does your sexual health, or lack thereof, affect your sense of self? your hopes and dreams? Let’s be honest: you and your doctor are probably not doing “well woman” exams every year; most of the time, they’re really “I don’t think you’re sick” exams. You know the difference.
By and for women and the men who love them, GynoGirlfriend welcomes your questions, your secrets, your fantasies. Before going further, please read “How to Get the Most from Gynogirlfriend” for disclaimers and suggestions for visitors to our site. I hope you will find something here that inspires, informs, or at the very least, makes you laugh.

How to Get the Most from GynoGirlfriend
Here at Gynogirlfriend, our mission is to provide information that will empower women to achieve sexaul health and love themselves more fully. Our goal is to provide safe space online for discussion and exploration. In that spirit, here are some ground rules and guidance for use of this site.
- Information given here is intended for educational and entertainment purposes only and should not substitute for evaluation and treatment by a health care provider. This is not, I repeat, NOT medical advice.
- GynoGirlfriend MD is a gynecologist. Unless we have an off-line relationship, she is not your gynecologist. You are not GynoGirlfriend’s patient. Did I mention this is NOT medical advice?
- There are questions GynoGirlfriend can and cannot answer. For example, if you have itchy red bumps on your labia, don’t ask GynoGirlfriend “What are those itchy red bumps on my labia?” Instead, go see your practitioner, find out what your diagnosis is and get their advice on treatment. We can help you better understand your condition and how it impacts you once you have a diagnosis from a reliable source. GynoGirlfriend is here to help bridge the gap from “not sick” to well. Getting from sick to “not sick” is better left to you and your provider.
- This website is primarily geared towards adults 18 and over. However, Gynogirlfriend knows how difficult it is for teens to get reliable information about their sexual health. If you’re under 18, GynoGirlfriend hopes you will discuss what you’re reading with a trusted adult.
- Before you post a comment, ask yourself, “Is what I’m saying true? is it kind? is it necessary?” If the answer to at least one of these is not “yes”, don’t post it.
- In the interest of keeping the dialogue true, kind and necessary, all posters will be moderated initially. Once you’ve demonstrated a track record of good behavior, you may be promoted to unmoderated status.
- Gyngirlfriend.com is not a democracy. GynoGirlfriend MD reserves the right to delete comments that are deemed to be disrespectful, misogynistic, racist, yucky, or just plain mean. Don’t be a hater. GynoGirlfriend hates haters. Haters will be barred from posting.
- GynoGirlfriend strives to create safe space for all, irrespective of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, disability, religion, or nationality. However, as a white, heterosexual, westerner trained in conventional medicine, GynoGirlfriend MD has biases. They come up. Please feel free to point them out in a respectful way.
- GynoGirlfriend MD is a physician, but my circle of colleagues includes dozens of nurses, midwives, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. I also have tremendous regard for many complementary and alternative therapies. If I refer to “doc” or “doctor” as the generic for health care provider, it’s because “ask your doctor/nurse practitioner/midwife/Reiki practitioner/etc.” makes crappy prose.
- If you don’t think what I have to say is helpful/funny/informative, please feel free to get your own website.
